Göldenitz, Germany (November 13, 2015) – The production of sugar beet in Europe suffers from major problems in terms of yield, quality and production costs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of ferti-activator Sanbio PLANTA on productivity and quality of sugar beet variety ´Annika´.
This project is being carried out within the framework of the program for the technological and economic development of sugar beet in Europe and the collaboration between AGRO -NORD GmbH and SANBOS GmbH, Germany.

2. Results
2.1 Yield of sugar beets
Figure 1. Yield of sugar beets (t/ha) compared to untreated lot
The yield of sugar beets was increased by 4,35 t/ha, resp. +6.8 %, compared to untreated control lot. The calculated average revenue by 35,50 €/t* (quota rates 51 €/t) is significant.
The average beet yield in 2015 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state was 67 tonnes/ha.
The plot treated with Sanbio® PPLANTA achieved higher performance.

2.2 Yield of sugar
Figure 2. Yield of sugar (t/ha) compared to untreated lot
The yield of sugar was increased by 1.04 t/ha, resp. +9%, compared to untreated control lot.
2.3 Sugar content
Figure 3. Sugar content (%) compared to untreated lot
The sugar content was increased by 0.4% compared to untreated control lot.
2.4 Quality parameter
Figure 4. Quality parameter AminoN, K, Na (mmol/1000g sugar beet) and standard mass loss SML (%) compared to untreated lot
The parameter AminoN value is a measure of generation of molassis to evaluate the quality of sugar. The AminoN value on the plot treated with Sanbio PLANTA was significantly lower than untreated control plot.
3. General information about sugar beet harvest 2015
The seeding of beets was made under favorable conditions during April.
However, cool weather and dryness (42% of the long-term mean) led to delay of sprouding. Outbreaks of disease and damage remained at a low level.
The rainfall in July and August and good weather conditions in September and October
led to good development of plants.
The achieved yield due to application of Sanbio PLANTA was the second-best yield in state Mecklenburg ever. It is 7% above the multiannual average.

5. Conclusion
To summarize, even the Sanbio PLANTA product was used very late in crop period the present study shows significantly positive effects of Sanbio PLANTA on productive performance.
The positive effects at glance:
• Higher harvest
• Higher sugar yield
• Higher sugar level
• Better quality regarding to non-sugar contents.
